Wayne Alexander Lamb

Wayne A. Lamb, 94, formerly of Memphis, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000, in Omaha, Nebraska. Born and raised in Weakley County, Tennessee, he became a Methodist minister serving churches in Paducah, Kentucky, and Greenfield, McKenzie, Jackson and Memphis, Tennessee. In Memphis he was pastor of Union Avenue Methodist Church during the 1950's and Madison Heights Methodist Church in the 1960's. He ended his active ministry as Superintendent of the Memphis Asbury District in 1975. After retirement, he served for 11 years as the Minister of Evangelism at Christ United Methodist Church. He was a prominent church leader, recognized locally and nationally for his work in missions and evangelism and was known as a builder of new churches and programs in both West Tennessee and Kentucky.

Dr. Lamb was an alumni of Asbury College, Asbury Theological Seminary, and Vanderbilt University. He served for over 40 years on the Board of Trustees of Asbury College. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Library Building Fund at Asbury College, 1 Macklem Dr., Wilmore, Ky. 40390.

Dr. Lamb is survived by one son, Dennis W. Lamb of Omaha, Nebraska, one daughter Susanne L. Stevens of San Carlos, California, three grandchildren, Dennis R. Lamb and Janice M. Lamb of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jennifer S. Scriabine of Walnut Creek, California, and one great grandchild, Alexander W. Lamb of Omaha, Nebraska. Dr Lamb was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Ruby Lamb and one grandson, Andrew W. Lamb.

Visitation will be from 7:00-8:30 pm Friday, October 13 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 14, also at Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
