The funeral of John Koperski was held on Monday morning, February 14th, at 9: 30 at the Keating Mortuary and 10 o'clock at St Anthony Catholic church at Farwell, The Rev Father Anthony Radziewicz offered the Mass of Resurrection Miss Sharon Lewandowski was the organist. Serving as pallbearers were; Joe Bryl, Edward and Stanley Curio, Paul and Harry Koperski and Earl Kaiser. The rosary was recited on Sunday evening with "the parish rosary, at 7 30 and the Knights of Columbus rosary at 8. Burial was in St. Anthony cemetery at Farwell. Keating Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

John Koperski was born on a farm southwest of Farwell on April 30. 1892, the youngest son of Valentine and Josephine (Szkudlarek) Koperski. He attended a nearby rural school and became a farmer.

In 1917, he was united in marriage to miss Mary Platek at Paplin, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm near Farwell. Five sons. Anthony, Albin, Louis, Emil and Dominic and a daughter Alice were born to this union. Mrs Koperski died January 7. 1930 leaving Mr. Koperski to care for the children He was married to Miss Rose Robak on July 24. 1930. To this union were born five sons: Pete, Henry, John Jr., Ted and Ben and six daughters, Agnes, Frances, Jo Ann, Dolores, Marie and Sally. The family lived on the farm southwest of Farwell until 1961 when they moved to a small acreage north of Farwell Mrs. Koperski died last July 21st 1971 and Mr. Koperski continued to live at Farwell.

He has been a lifelong member of the Catholic faith and of St. Anthony parish. He was affiliated with the Knights of Columbus lodge. He has been ailing for the past month and entered the hospital in St. Paul only two weeks ago where he died Friday, February 11th at the age of 79 years.

He was preceded in death by his wives, a son Louis, two brothers, Frank and Joseph and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bryl, Mrs. Victoria Curlo, and Mrs. Anna Symanski.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children Anthony, Emil and Mrs. Ben (Alice) Ziola, all of Omaha, Albin of Denver, Colorado, Dominic of Boelus, Pete of Kansas City, Kansas, Henry of Farwell, John Jr. of Dannebrog, Ted of Waverly, Ben of Lincoln, Mrs. Ronald (Agnes) Lewandowski and Mrs. Robert (Frances) Kush, both of Grand Island, Mrs. Justin (Jo Ann) Kuszak of Ashton, Mrs. Dan (Delores) Grimes of Hiawatha, Kansas, Mrs. Daryl (Marie) Platek of Farwell, Mrs. Tom (Sally) Mudloff of St. Paul and 38 grandchildren.
