He was born May 20, 1908, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of James and Tina Potter Cargal. He lived in High Point 60 years and previously lived in Dalton. He was a superintendent of Schoonbeck Furniture Company for 30 years and retired in 1965. He was a charter member of Jamestown Baptist Church and was past secretary and treasurer of the church. On March 3, 1934, he married the former Kate Parsons, who survives of the home.
