Mrs. Elmira Smith Throckmorton, 84, widow of Albert B. Throckmorton and a lifelong resident of Greene County, died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1948, at the home of her son, Attorney Frank Throckmorton, 142 North Porter street. Mrs. Throckmorton had been in failing health for some time, but her condition had been serious for only ten days.
A daughter of the Rev. Thomas B. Smith and Mary Fordyce Smith, she was born August 5, 1864, in Jackson Township and was the last of a family of seven children. She was married Oct. 11, 1888 to Albert B. Throckmorton, who died in 1932, and most of her married life was spent in the Rogersville community where she was widely known. She was a member of the Rogersville Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Frank Throckmorton at whose home she died, and one granddaughter, Miss Margaret Throckmorton, of Waynesburg.
