One of 13 children of Carl G. and Anna (Peterson) Sundblad, he was born July 27,1896, in Dawson. When he was four years old, his family moved to Erhard Grove Township to farm. His mother died when he was a child, and his father married Emma Nord in 1908.
He served in the armed forces during World War I. After his discharge, he moved to St Paul.
On Nov. 24,1920, he and Toline Ingvoldson were married in St. Paul. They resided in St. Paul, where he worked as a street car conductor. They later moved to Erhards Grove Township and farmed. Mr. Sundblad owned and operated Sundblad Grocery in Erhard for about 20 years, and he then built and operated Sundblad Resort on Long Lake until his retirement.
He was a charter member of World War I Barracks, a member of the Elks and Eagles Clubs, both of Fergus Falls, and of Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard.
Survivors include one daughter, Deloris Anderson of Fergus Falls; one son, Carl of Babbitt; seven grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Carl (Jerda) Sund of St. Paul, Mrs. Ole (Ethel) Swanson of Pelican Rapids, Mrs. Henning (Hilda) Peterson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Clifford (Anna) Bakken of Underwood and Mrs. Howard (Agnes) Motz of Erhard; and one brother, Albert of Erhard.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p,m. Monday and continue from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resume at the church one hour prior to services Wednesday.
