WILBRAHAM, Mass. -- Paul E. Cheney, 82, died May 29, 2010. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Howard R. and A. Gertrude (Power) Cheney. He moved to Wilbraham five years ago coming from East Dennis, MA. Previous to that, he had lived in Fitchburg for many years.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

He owned and operated Cheney Design Engineering in Fitchburg, where he designed and built one of a kind machines and P.E. Cheney Engineering Co., Inc. of Yarmouth. He had also been employed at Barkley and Dexter in Fitchburg.

He attended Worcester public schools and received his Associate Degree and Honorary Bachelor Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he served as a corporator.

He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret (Shea) Cheney; one daughter, Paula Talmadge and husband, Richard; three grandchildren, Maura, Michael and Carolyn; one brother, Howard R. Cheney and wife, Marion; one sister, Mary Lou Gearin and husband, Jack, two sisters-in-law, Mary Cheney and Helen Ann McGrath; and several nieces and nephews, including Roberta Dolan.

Visitation will be held at the Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham on Wednesday, June 2 from 4-7 P.M. Funeral service from the funeral home on Thursday, June 3 at 10 A.M., with a Funeral Mass at St. Cecilia's Church, Wilbraham at 11 A.M. Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam on Friday, June 4 at 10 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
