Little is knows of John R. Golden other than he was born in Izard County, Arkansas in 1859 and lived in Union, Izard County, Arkansas in 1860 and in Mill Creek, Izard County, Arkansas in 1870. Sometime between 1870 and 1878 he and his family moved to Red River County, Texas. He married Artilda Ann Christopher on 14 October 1878 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. Both his father, William Nick Golden's family and John and Artilda' family are shown in the 1880 Census in Red River County, Texas. Also shown in the 1880 Census with John and Artilda is a son named Wily N. Golden, born in 1879. Nothing further has ever been found for Wily N. Golden. John and Artilda had 4 more children; they were William R. in 1881, Walter S. in 1884, Nora Belle in 1889 and Fred in December of 1891. John apparently died sometime between 1891 and 1898 and may be buried somewhere in Red River County, Texas.
Nothing further has been found regarding John R. Golden. In the 1900 Census, Artilda had been married 2 years to Charly Nicks and her four children are shown with them in Saline County, Arkansas.
