A native of Indiana, he had served on the police force in Indianapolis for many years. Following his retirement, he and Mrs. Butler, the former Minnie Holt, came to Russell Springs about ten years ago, and had been living quietly there since then. Only immediate survivor is his wife, Mrs. Minnie Butler.
The funeral was held yesterday (Wednesday) morning in the chapel of Rippetoe Funeral Home, with Bro. Carroll Egnew as the officiating minister.
The pallbearers were members of the Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Although not officially a member of the department, Mr. Butler always assisted the firemen in every way possible and was very popular with them.
Burial was in Jamestown Cemetery, with Rippetoe Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
