Musician and songwriter. Known as R. Alex. Anderson, he specialized mostly in Hawaiian music, composing the popular tunes "Lovely Hula Hands," "The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai," "On a Coconut Island," and others, as well as the Christmas song "Mele Kalikimaka." His music has been performed and recorded by Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, Iwalani Kahalewai, Swedish singer Lars Kåge, and French singers Tino Rossi and René Carol, and countless others.
