Rev. John Samuel Brown was the son of Charles and Susan (Hildreth) Brown. He was the husband of Clara "Nettie" (Young) Brown. They were married September 4, 1876. Clara died September 10, 1942. Rev. Brown was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) Conference L 1886 G 1887 F 1889. He served Johnsonburg, Elk County, Pennsylvania (1911-1913) Rev. Brown led the community in building a half-mile of cement sidewalk connecting the railroad station and the village.
