Barbara Kisber Gordon, born May 3, 1934, died July 4, 2010 surrounded by her family. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Birmingham, AL, a life member of Temple Beth-El and Hadassah. She was a past president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Alabama Symphony and was active with UAB Hospice. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband JD Kisber, her sister, Betty Levy Hodges, and by her parents, Frieda and Louis L. Levy. She is survived by her beloved husband of eight years, Daniel Gordon; her daughters Laura (Ari) Benjaminson and Minda (Neil) Gordon; and her six grandchildren: Elizabeth and Rachel Nomberg, Adam and Aaron Benjaminson, and Joshua and Jennifer Gordon; and step-children Steven Gordon, Ileane Gordon, and Bruce (Janet) Gordon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Temple Beth-El at 3:00 P.M., followed by a private, family burial at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ramah Scholarship Fund at the Jacksonville Jewish Center. Rabbi Goldsmith and Cantor Gale officiating, Johns-Ridout's Southside Chapel directing.
