Squadron, 90th Bomb Group, World War II.

His aircraft took off from Five Mile Drome
near Port Moresby on a patrol mission to
the north coast of New Guinea. Returning to
base in terrible weather, the pilot requested
of the control tower that they turn on search
lights, but they were unable to locate the
airfield.

Lost, the bomber ultimately crashed in a
mangrove swamp, killing all twelve crew members.
