TOM E ALFORD Funeral is Held Here Saturday - Rockdale Reporter - Funeral services were held at 2 PM Saturday at the Phillips & Luckey chapel for Thomas Ewing Alford, 76, who died at 11:45 PM Thursday in a Houston hospital.
Rev. R. Allison Joyce, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated. Pall Bearers were H. L. Brown, Gary J. Fenn, K.R. Robertson, Thomas Eugene Alford, Clarence Wayne Alford, and Donald Franklin Alford.
Mr. Alford had spend most of his life in Milam County and the last 14 years in Rockdale. He was born December 23, 1887 in the Gay Hill Community, and was a farmer and rancher until he retired. On April 11, 1907, he was married to Carolina Rose, and ten children were born to this couple.
A son, Johnny Justice Alford, died at age of 10 months and a daughter Ida Luvenia, died at the age of seven years.
Survivors are; his wife, Mrs. Carolina Alford of Rockdale; five sons, Clarence E. Alford of Sugar Land, O. Franklin Alford of Gause, Weldon S. Alford and Wilburn S. Alford of Rockdale, and James A. Alford of Taylor; three daughters, Mrs. M.W. Brown, Mrs. Mary N. Tuma, and Mrs. Lester J. Fenn of Houston; two brothers, Emory J. Alford of the Forest Grove Community and Aaron A. Alford of Hearne.
There are also 32 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
