Minnie was born to Tom DOYLE (aka Frank REED) and Lucy PETERSON, a poor married couple living in Danville, Illinois. Two months before Minnie's third birthday, Minnie's mother died. Her father was left with four children under eight years old. Who actually raised Minnie is not known; it was not her father. On March 4, 1900, in Rankin, Vermilion Co., Illinois, Minnie married Charles Woody PATTEN. In December 1900 in Rankin, she birthed a son -- Murray King PATTEN. In November 1905, in Gregory Co., South Dakota, she birthed son Tillman Mark PATTEN. The marriage with Mr. Patten ended in divorce; her sons Murray and Tillman were raised by their paternal grandparents. Reportedly, Minnie never again saw her sons Murray or Tillman.

In about 1907, Minnie married Owen Bartlette MEEKS. In January 1909, Minnie birthed son Edward Samuel MEEKS in Stratford, Sherman Co., Texas. In April 1910, Minnie and husband Mr. Meeks were living in West Holbrook, Otero Co., Colorado. Mr. Meeks was working as a hired hand on a farm. In 1920, she, Mr. Meeks, and son Edward were living in Milton Twp., DuPage Co., Illinois, on Kenilworth Ave. Mr. Meeks was working as a sheet-metal worker for a fireproof sash factory. Her son, 11 years old, was in school. In 1930, Minnie, husband Mr. Meeks, and son Edward were living in Lansing, Ingham Co., Michigan, on Paxon. Mr. Meeks worked as a carpenter; Minnie worked for a private family doing housework, and son Edward worked as a painter in a car factory. Minnie was widowed in December 1938 when Mr. Meeks died in Flint, Michigan; by the time he died, he was farming.

In 1940, Minnie was living in Unadilla, Livingston Co., Michigan, on Topping Road. She was working as a live-in housekeeper for Mr. Roy BURNS, a farmer. She died at 69 years old, in Highland, Osceola Co., Michigan. Her body was buried next to the grave of husband Mr. MEEKS.
