Ernest was born in Germany and immigrated to the US in 1881. On 25 Jun 1890 he married Elizabeth Meiners and they had four children: Elizabeth, Ernest, William and Mary. For many years he was a tanner in a leather company and later he became the foreman. He died of lobar pneumonia at the age of 76.
