He was attached to the National Guard and assigned to the Field Artillery Unit. His grade when he enlisted was a Sergeant. He was promoted to a 1st Lt. during WWII where he was killed. He was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, Silver Star Medal, and additional Army awards.
