Mr. Elias John Earle died last Monday night at his home in Savannah Township of heart failure and dropsy. He had been in feeble health for several months, but was only confined to his bed a short time. Mr. Earle was in the 72nd year of his age, and was the eldest son of the late Samuel G. Earle. He was born and reared, and had spent the greater portion of his life on the plantation where he died.

In his early manhood he graduated from old Bethany College, in West Virginia, and later was admitted to the bar in Anderson. He never practiced his profession, however, and after his father's death moved to the old family homestead and spent his life farming. He possessed a brilliant mind and a most remarkable memory, and was always well posted on any subject.

Mr. Earle married Miss Amanda Hammond, who died about three years ago. Five sons and three daughters survive him.

His remains will be interred today at Shiloh Church, of which he was a member. He was well known throughout the County, and his many old friends will regret to hear of his death.
