Albert C. Seifert. 53. 5 Westminster Rd., president of Seifert Bros, Inc.. candy and tobacco wholesalers, died, in a local hospital yesterday [May 19, 1949] after a brief illness. Mr. Seifert was born May 4, 1896, in Rome, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Seifert. When a young man he had been employed by the New York Telephone Company in Rome and later was associated with the Farmers Trust Company, Rome twenty-five years ago he came to Utica and was associated with his brother, the late Valentine Seifert, In the cigar and candy business In West Utica. In 1931 he opened his own business at 418 John and organized the Seifert Bothers Company with another brother, the late Jacob Seifert. Oct. 6, 1921 he married Mary Newell of Utica. Mr. Seifert was strong supporter of all sports. He sponsored many bowling teams and was an active worker and generous contributor to baseball, golf and basketball. He had headed several committees at Yahnundasis Golf Club and was an ardent golfer Mr. Seifert was a member of the Elks, Smith Post, American Legion. Roman Lodge. FLAM Teugaga Country Club and Trinity Evangelical Church, all In Rome He also was a member of the Utica Sports Boosters, Rotary Club. Nightstick Club, Engine 111 and the Yahnundasis Club. Surviving are his wife, two; brothers, John, Rome, and Paul, Watertown. and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p. m Monday from his home with burial in Calvery Cemetery.
