Higbee Phelps HISCOCK was born in Pompey, Onondaga Co., New York to Luther HISCOCK and Persis HIGBEE.


Enlisted in Company I, New York 12th Infantry regiment on 4 Dec 1861 in Pompey, Onondaga, New York.

Promoted to Full Corporal on 1 Nov 1862. Mustered out on 17 May 1863 at Elmira, NY, due to health reasons (cardiac issues). He was discharged in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

Regiment: 12th New York Infantry.
Company: I.
Rank: Corporal.

After he mustered out from Civil War service in 1863/1864, he moved to Ionia County, Michigan where his parents and several siblings lived. His parents moved to Livingston and Jackson counties in Michigan sometime after 1870; some of their other children were already in MI by 1860 or 1870.

Higbee married Mary J McKelvey (not Delotte) Hiscock on 30 Mar 1885 in North Plains, Ionia, Michigan, per marriage record.

By 1880, he and Mary were in Nebraska.

He was widowed in 1885.

He died on 11 Sep 6 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. That is where his son Luther Richard Hiscock was living at the time.
