Born in County Armagh, Margaret came to the US in the 1860s or early 1870s and settled in the Chicago area. In 1873, she married David Thresher. They had two sons, William E. and Charles J. Thresher. After David passed in 1910, Margaret settled in Belvidere, Illinois, near her brothers Thomas and James, who had also immigrated from Ireland in the 1860s.
