Archibald was my Great-Grandfather.

He was the third of six children born to Enos Mitchell CAMPBELL and Matilda Tabitha HILL Campbell.

He was married to Lucinda Bellzora BRASHEARS (1863-1891).

Together they had four children:

Annie Belle (1882-1962)
Minnie Lee Lucy
James Martin
William Mitchell (1889-1889)

After their fourth child was born Lucinda contracted blood poisoning and died at the age of 28.

Archie's second marriage was to Rachael "Ma" BARNES (1874-?) in 1893. They had no children together.

Archibald resided in Georgia until the age of 14 when his family moved to Texas. In Texas he operated a cattle ranch, until he moved to Oklahoma in 1888. He spent the last six years of his life in Alex, Oklahoma where he served as Constable for one term. Archibald was a member of the Masonic Order.

Cause of death: stomach cancer.

No stone has been found for Archie Campbell in the Alex Cemetery. From his death date, he would most likely be buried in Section 2 South or Section 3 South which are the oldest sections of the original Morris Cemetery area of the Alex Cemetery.

A.T. CAMPBELL PASSES AWAY

Archie Thomas Campbell died at 3:30 a.m. Mar. 6, 1913 after being confined to his bed for about six weeks. He had been ailing for over two years. He was born in Walker Co., GA, June 13, 1856 and resided there until he was about 14 years of age, at which time his family moved to Texas and resided there until Mr. Campbell grew to manhood. He moved to Oklahoma about 25 years ago, and has lived here ever since, having spent over six years in and around the vicinity of Alex, and served one term as constable during his time. He married his present wife Mrs. Rachael Campbell in 1893.

Mr. Campbell was a member of the Masonic Order, which order took charge of the funeral services. Judge J.T. Collins gave a short talk at the M.E. Church where the funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, immediately following, the friends and relatives followed his body to its last resting place at the Morris Cemetery. Most of the business houses in town closed, also public school during the funeral services.

Mr. Campbell knew that there was no hope for his recovery a couple of weeks before he died, and told his family and friends that he was ready to go. He was a kind and loving father, a good citizen, and a splendid neighbor, and was never known to refuse any one who came to him for assistance. He leaves a host of warm friends in this and other communities where he has lived.

He is survived by a wife, three daughter and one son, also two brothers and sisters all splendid whom were present at the funeral.

We earnestly join with his friends in extending our heart sympathy to the bereaved family whom he has left behind and our hope is that time, that Great Healer, may soften their grief, until they can say Not My Will But Thine be Done.
