Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Bird Lanier, 70, who died Sunday in a local hospital, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Metter Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.

She was a member of the Metter Methodist Church, the Woman’s Society of Christian Service and the Metter Garden Club.

Surviving are her husband, W.H. Lanier; daughters, Mrs. A. L. Pearson and Mrs. William E. McMinn, both of Fort Valley and Mrs. John W. Strickland of Tifton; sons, Dan L. Lanier of Metter and Albert Lanier of San Francisco, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. R.L. Williams of Savannah; Mrs. George Rogers of Atlanta, and Mrs. F.T. Ritchie of Athens; brothers, A.J. Bird and George M. Bird, both of Metter and Wade Bird of Swainsboro; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
