Sol. Gen. Dan L. Lanier of the Middle Judicial Circuit, his wife, the former Martha Williams of Metter, and a daughter, Lisa, about 10, were killed in a head-on collision near Cedar Crossing. Mr. Lanier was a graduate of the University of Georgia Law School, was sworn in as prosecutor of the Middle District by former Gov. Carl E. Sanders. He succeeded his father, W. H. Lanier, who was solicitor general of the district for 24 years.
