Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Byars Craig, 46, of Amory, died at 3 am Tuesday, April 15, 1975. She was dead on arrival at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 pm, April 16, from the Houlka Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Phillips and Rev. Woodrow Horn officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Craig was born in Chickasaw County, Feb. 14, 1929 the daughter of David Evans Byars and Ora Dee Holliday Byars. She was married to Alvin Gene Craig of Hamilton, Alabama. She resided at Apartment 800, 8th Street South, Amory. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Craig is survived by nine children, four sons, Micky Gann of Houlka; Gene Craig, Ronnie Craig and Johnny Craig, all of Amory and five daughters, Mrs. Perry York of Memphis, Mrs. Shirley Ann Smith of Opelika, Ala., Mrs. Sue Mask of Shannon, Miss Carolyn Craig and Miss Darlene Craig, both of Amory. Also surviving is her mother, Mrs. Ora H Byars of Houlka, two brothers, Tom Byars, Sr. of Houlka and James Byars of Pontotoc; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Owen of Pontotoc, and three grandchildren.
