Daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Racer. Wife of John C. Bailey, mother of 14 children, including; Marion Lester, Louise R., twins Harriet E. and Harry Lee, Nellie E., twins Bruce L. and Blanche E., Vertie O., Ruby P., and Harvey.


Mrs. James(sic) C. Bailey, aged 69 years, and a life time resident of Louisa county, died at her home in this city at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday night, after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock conducted by the Reverend C. E. Eurdine of Wapello. Burial will be in the Creighton cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey, born Letter(sic) Racer, was born in Louisa county June 6, 1861(sic), and was married December 29, 1880, to James(sic) C. Bailey. Last December they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Marion and Harry Bailey of Oakville; six daughters, Mrs. Louise Naeber and Mrs. Nellie Brown, Oakville, Mrs. Ruby Stewart, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Hattie Baxter, Idaho; Mrs. Verda Sheridan, Missouri, and Mrs. Blanche Wicol, Galesburg, Illinois.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
