US Congressman. He was elected to represent New York's 8th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1811 to 1813. During the War of 1812 he served in Walker's Company of the 37th New York State Militia regiment, and fought in the September 1814 siege of Plattsburg, New York. His health was wrecked by the exposure during the campaign, which caused his death at Schroon, New York. He had been elected to another Congressional term, but he died before he could serve it. Originally interred in Pine Ridge Cemetery, North Hudson, New York, he was re-interred in Elizabethtown in 1923.
