Dean Griffith, 60, of Hoot Owl Road in Spruce Pine, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.
Born on September 16, 1949 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Earl and Jennie Boone Griffith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Griffith who passed away in 2006. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Griffith; and a sister, Helen Wilson.
Mr. Dean Griffith was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and had been employed with Coates American with forty years service. He enjoyed Lake Jordan fishing trips and spending time with his, Little Tom Boy.
The funeral service for Mr. Dean Griffith will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ricky Ray and David Philbeck officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Webb Funeral Home.
Mr. Dean Griffith is survived by his daughters, Deena Presnell and husband, Mark, of Spruce Pine and Gail of the home; a son, Kevin Griffith and wife, Joyce, of Spruce Pine; brothers, Jack Griffith and wife, Janice, of Spruce Pine, Frank Griffith and wife, Rosie, of Marion and James Griffith and wife, Nina, of Marion; sisters, Ora Allen and husband, Arthur, of Spruce Pine and Carolyn Carpenter of Spruce Pine; sister-in-law, Pat Griffith of Burnsville; brother-in-law, Floyd Wilson of Spruce Pine; very special granddaughter, Marena Presnell of Spruce Pine; several step grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
