MARBLEHEAD - Everett Johnson Bartlett, 83, of Marblehead, died Thursday, July 15, in the Devereux Nursing Home, after a long illness.

Mr. Bartlett was born in Marblehead, July 7, 1916, son of the late Woodfin and Cora (Tucker) Bartlett. He graduated from Marblehead High School in 1939 and from Petersen Institute of Steam Engineering. He worked for the Marblehead Laundry for more than 40 years before he retired in 1979.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marines, in the Atlantic Fleet. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. He also was a longtime member of the Greater Lynn Camera Club and had photographed many wedding and other social events in the North Shore area. He was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead.

Mr. Bartlett leaves his wife of 58 years, Evelyn (Goggin) Bartlett; two sons, Dwight E. of Plymouth and David E. of North Conway, N.H.; a daughter, Deborah E. Bartlett of Marblehead; five grandchildren, Dwight E. Jr. of Sandwich, Douglas E. of Plymouth, Justin D, Christopher E. and Kelsey Bartlett, all of North Conway, N.H.; many nieces and nephews. He also was the brother of the late Alden, Benjamin, Chester and Charles Bartlett and Anna Rood.
