Born Feb. 1, 1906, son of John and Nora Poland Cumpston, in Greene County, Pa. he lived for several years in that section adjacent to West Virginia and the Cameron community. He was a member of the Church of God at Sugar Grove, Pa. He was a machinist-repairman at Wellsville, N. Y., until illness forced him to quit and he came to the home of the sister where he died.
He married Mrs. Della Chambers Cumpston. Five children survive. Four children are dead.
Survivors include: the children, Charles, with the Navy in California; Teddy, in the Air Force, in Texas; Virginia C. Carl and Richard, all in Wellsville, N. Y. His mother, Mrs. Nora Cumpston, lives in Claughton. Three grandchildren and three brothers and sisters are living: William A. of Cameron R. D. 4, Frank of Cameron R. D. 3, Mrs. Charles (Blanche) Parsons of Graysville, Pa., Mrs. John (Mayme) Leichter of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Taylor in Wheeling.
