Miss Amelia Blackman, a well known resident of this village died yesterday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Augusta Pike in Chestnut St., aged 80 years. Her funeral, which will be private, will be held tomorrow afternoon at the house. Rev. Warren C. Taylor will officiate. Miss Blackman was a daughter of Abram Blackman and was born June 25, 1836, at Caroline, Tompkins County, NY She was educated at the Owego Academy, having been a classmate of John D. and William Rockefeller. She lived 40 years at Grand Rapids, Mich. She returned to Owego to live about 10 years ago. Besides her sister Mrs. Pike she leaves no relatives nearer than nieces and nephews.
She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution.
