Her mother was Susan Lewis Martin (1798-1832) of Kentucky whose place of burial is unknown as of May 22, 2015. On June 11, 1844, she married Napoleon Dana.

Grave In New Hampshire For General Dana’s Widow
Funeral services for Mrs. N.T.J. Dana will take place from her late residence, 1804 Wyoming Avenue, at 11 o’clock, tomorrow morning. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Herbert Scott Smith, of St. Margaret’s Church.

Mrs. Dana’s death occurred Saturday morning, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Dana was the wife of General N.J.T. Dana and before her marriage was Miss Sue Lewis Sandford, a daughter of the late Major Alfred Sandford, of Kentucky. She was married to General Dana in 1844.

She is survived by a grandson, Alfred Dana and a granddaughter, Miss Winifred Dana.

After the funeral services tomorrow, the remains will be taken to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the former home of General Dana for interment.

The funeral of Mrs. N.J.T. Dana was held at 11 o’clock today from the family residence, 180 Wyoming Avenue Northwest. The services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Herbert Scott Smith of St. Margaret’s Church. The remains were taken to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the former home of General N.J.T. Dana, for interment. Mrs. Dana was a daughter of the late Major Alfred Sandford of Kentucky, who was a soldier in the War of 1812. She was married to General N.J.T. Danna at St. Louis in 1844 and is survived by a grandson, Mr. Alfred Dana and a granddaughter, Miss Winnifred Dana.
