Arthur H. Smith of Pinckney road died early last Wednesday night at his home of general debility after a long illness. He was seventy years old and had lived in this section for the past 25 years. He was a retired accountant and salesman. .

Mr. Smith was born at North Haven, Connecticut, and lived in that section a great part of his life. He was the son of the late J. Boardman and Margaret Hull Smith and was a descendent of one of the colonial governors of Connecticut. His wife, Mrs. Charlotte Goodyear Smith, died in 1926.

Mr. Smith was an active member of the Presbyterian church and was a member of the Men's Bible class of that church and the Presbyterian brotherhood.

The Deceased is survived by five children, Mrs. Thomas G. Shultis, Miss Dorothy L. Smith, A. Trumbull Smith and W. Boardman Smith, all of Red Bank, and Mrs. Joseph P. Bickerton of Little Silver; a brother, William Rice Smith of Meridian, Connecticut; two grandchildren, Philip and Betty of Red Bank, and a great-grandson, Philip T. Smith, Jr., of Red Bank.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Worden funeral home on East Front street with Rev. John A, Hayes, pastor of the Presbyterian church in charge. Rev James H. Owens, a retired Presbyterian clergyman, assisted. Mrs. Japhia Clayton sang "Nearer, My God to Thee."

The bearers were Joseph Koehne, Edward Freese, Seely B. Tuthill, Frederick T. Hurley, George C. Worthley and William H. Carhart, Sr. Burial was in Fair View cemetery.
