Cynthia was the daughter of Eleanor Cave and Joseph P. Hon II of Montgomery County, Kentucky. Her mother Eleanor was born in Culpeper, Virginia.

Her father Joseph was captured by Seminols Indians along with his mothr and sistr Kitty at Ruddls Mill, Kentucky in 1781, during the Revolutionary War. He eventually escaped and returned home, but his sister Kittty lived in captivity for 18 years.

Cynthia married Richard Morton I March 29, 1825 in Montgomery County, Kentucky. She was the first wife of Richard 36 years old when she died, uncertain at this time what the cause of death was.

She and Richard were the parents of 9 children:
