Funeral services for Edgar A Perilloux, Carrollton section civic, business and religious leader, were conducted Wednesday [22 Oct 1969] at the funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Son Inc followed by religious rites at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. Officiating at the rites were Msgr Joseph Pyzikiewiez, pastor, and Msgr Henry C Pezou, pastor of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment was in Metairie Mausoleum. Mr Perilloux died Tuesday [21 Oct 1969] following a lengthy illness. He was 74. Considered an authority on Carrollton history, he wrote a monograph on that section of the city, which was published by the Carrollton Business Men's Association, during the Carrollton centennial in 1945. A resident of 104 Sena Dr in Metairie, Mr Perilloux established his own insurance agency in Carrollton in 1951. In 1959, he was named "Man of Carrollton" by the business men's association for his many contributions to the community. He was an organizer and the first commander of Post No 228, American Legion. He was also active in 1944 in having the name of Station F of the US Post Office changed to the Carrollton Station exactly 100 years after the first post office was established in Carrollton, when the community was still part of Jefferson Parish. Mr Perilloux is survived by his widow, the former Irma Claire Fabacher, two sons, Earl J and Edgar A Perilloux Jr, two daughters, Mrs Lorraine Abadie and Mrs Joan Estopinal, and two sisters Mrs Herbert Daigle and Mrs August Honore. He was a native of New Orleans and the husband of the late Laura Windstein by his first marriage.
