Richard Joseph (Joe) Riney, 71, of Kahoka died at his home Wednesday, March 12, 1986. The son of Francis and Catherine Bick Riney, he was born at St. Patrick on August 6, 1914. He married Madeline Smith at Kahoka on Nov. 23, 1944 and she survives. Also survivng are two daughters: Mrs. James (Darlene) Farran of Quincy, Ill. and Mrs. Gilbert (Joyce) Nichols of Pekin, Ill.; one brother: Pat Riney of St. Patrick; one sister: Leota Riney of Quincy, Ill.; two grandchildren: Dana and Ky Nichols; four step-grandchildren; one great step-grandson; nieces, nephews; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Agnes. Riney had lived and farmed near Wyaconda since 1939, and moved to Kahoka in March of 1981. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Services were held Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Robert Duisdieker officiating. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery. Organist was Juanita Watson, soloist was Dennis Shaffer. Pallbearers were Linley Egbert, Junior Bourgeois, Howard Kemmer, David Alderton, Willard Mohr and Delbert Mohr. Servers were David Garner and Nthan Stammeyer. Scripture services were held Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Shaffer and Sons Funeral Home.
