Harold L. Procter, 86, of Weymouth, loving husband and father, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Oct. 24. He was born in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1943. He was a combat veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific theatre as a rifleman with the 25th Infantry Division. He was awarded a purple heart during the campaign to re-take the Philippines. After leaving the service, he attended the Stockbridge School at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After graduating in 1948, he returned to Weymouth where he raised his family. He enjoyed watching the Boston sports teams, attending his grandchildren's sporting events,vacationing at Alton Bay and Merrymeeting Lake in NH, and spending time with his many friends at Friendly's Restaurant. Mr. Procter was employed by White Brothers of Quincy and later Boston Whaler of Rockland where he retired after 26 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Natalie Procter; two sons, Mark A.Procter and his wife Laurie (Jancaterino) of Hopkinton, MA and their children Renee and Liane, Forrest E. Procter and his wife Carol Trask of Bangor, ME, and a daughter, Kyle E. Procter of South Weymouth, MA and her children, Ryan, Connor and Cameron and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Procter was a son of the late Gerald B. and Addie (Deane) Procter and brother of the late Gerald Procter of Danvers, MA. A memorial service will be held at the Old South Union Church in Columbian Square, South Weymouth on Thursday Oct. 28 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Service, 134 Pleasant St.(Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Harold's memory to the Old South Union Church Scholarship Fund, 25 Columbian St., South Weymouth, MA 02190.
