Eliza Lewis Pelham Neel, was the only sister of 6 Confederate soldiers. Her brother Lt. Colonel John Pelham, was the famous Commander of the Stuart horse Light Artillery. General Robert E. Lee gave then Major Pelham, the title of "The Gallant Pelham."

Her oldest brother, Lt. Charles Pelham, became a Judge in 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Alabama from 1868 - 1873 when he was elected as a U.S. Representative of the 43 Congress in Washington DC.
