Novelist. Viscount Shirō Hamao was a detective novelist and lawyer. Born Shirō Katō, he later became an adopted son of Hamao Arata, and succeeded to the viscountcy. As a writer, he debuted in 1929 in magazine "Shin-Seinen" with "Did He Kill Them" and "The Devil's Disciple."
