John H. Duncan was thrown off a train last Saturday near Virden and killed instantly. His body was taken and cared for by the G.A.R. of that city, until a later train returned his body home.
Funeral took place the next day at the Methodist Church in Franklin. The funeral was attended by one of the largest crowds that ever assembled in the church and cemetery. He left a wife and seven children. (5 children are under the age of 14).
John was the third child of Mrs. A.G. Duncan that died within less than five months. Will,died May 30, 1892; Mrs.Emma Duncan Jolly, died June 26, 1892; and John, died Oct.15,1892.
