Loved by all that knew him. His friends called him "Charley". He served in Okinawa during WWII and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was a carpenter, contractor, plumber, and mason, by trade. He also attempted farming and sales. He loved nature. He found pleasure in fishing, finding mushrooms, and especially spending time with his family and friends. He loved the beauties that life provided. Classical music, poetry, the sunrise, sunset, and the landscape that surrounded him. He never quit learning. He was tolerant but also demanding if another violated what "he" knew to be right. He thought of himself and his family as being stronger than most folks. If was not uncommon for him to ask his family to give anything they had to victims of hardships. He fit the description of one that would "give the shirt off his back" for another. He resented being called "Good Old Charley" A neckname given him for his generosity --- a trait that often left his family doing without.
