Death has taken Charles A. Armstrong, resident of this vicinity for many years, and well known as a school teacher, who passed away at the Proctor Hospital this morning at the age of 68. Following an illness of some six weeks duration, he was well known and most highly regarded both in Peoria and Kingston Mines where he taught school a number of years. Mr. Armstrong was born in Reno, Illinois the son of Albert Armstrong (Note this is a mistake as Robert was his father, not Albert (Marilyn) later he moved to this area to practice his profession of teaching, he also taught at Saybrook, Illinois, he was a member of the Masons and Odd Fellows and other fraternal organizations, surviving are his widow Olive Armstrong, Peoria, and the following children, Stanley of Nashville, Tennessee, Glenn of Peoria, Misses Gwendolyn of Little Rock Arkansas and Marie of Nebraska and Lucille of Peoria, funeral services will be held at Reno, Illinois interment made Friday.

Democratic Candidate for County Superintendent dies, C. A. Armstrong, dies in Peoria Hospital after weeks illness. End comes after sickness while teaching school, was native of Reno, the remains to be brought back for funeral at 1 pm. Friday. Death comes to Charles A. Armstrong, democratic nominee for County superintendent of schools of Bond County, at Peoria. At 7:45 am. Wednesday after an illness of one week and two days of complication, the end came at a hospital in Peoria where he was taken after he became ill, and had to give up teaching at a county school near Peoria, Mr. Armstrong had been teaching there since September 1924.

DEATH A GREAT SHOCK: Mr. Armstrong's death came as a great shock to the people of Bond county with whom he was well acquainted. He having been candidate for county Superintendent of schools four years ago at which time he was defeated by J. W. Anthony the present County Superintendent. At the primary April 13 last, Mr. Armstrong was again nominated by the Democratic party, as it's candidate for County Superintendent and Mr. Anthony was again nominated by the Republicans.

Supervisor H. A. McCracken of Reno and C. R. McCracken of Greenville, visited Mr. Armstrong at the Hospital Tuesday, the two men who are nephews of Mr. Armstrong left him having no thoughts that the end was so near, only a few hours later he passed away. Charles Allen Armstrong was born on the Armstrong farm near Reno, April 24, 1858 and was aged 64 years his last birthday, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong and he lived in Bond county most of his life, he married Olive Root of Walshville about forty years ago, and she survives him. Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a man of high ideals, he was always interested in educational pursuits and was a type of "Gentleman of the old school"

MEMBER OF TWO LODGES: Mr. Armstrong was also a member of the Masonic lodge and the Odd Fellows, he is survived by his widow and five children, two sons and three daughters, one son served in the World War. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Ellen McCracken of Reno, who is now the last of the family, Mrs. Addie Boyd of East St. Louis and Mrs. Harvey Pasco of St. Louis are half sisters. Supervisor H. A. McCracken of Reno and A. N. and C. R. McCracken of Greenville, are nephews, and Mrs. J .W. Travis, of this city is a niece of the decedent. Mr. Armstrong lived a number of years at Lincoln, Illinois, but returned to his home at Reno about ten years ago, and made that his home since.

FUNERAL TO BE FRIDAY: The body of Mr. Armstrong will arrive in Reno this afternoon, and will be taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. W. P. McCracken, in Reno where it will remain until the funeral, which will be at 1 pm. Friday at the Reno Presbyterian Church. The Rev. P. O. Anderson, Pastor of the Sorento Methodist Church will officiate, burial will be made in the Bethel Cemetery, Clark Lodge I.O.O.F. of Greenville will conduct its spiritual service at the grave.
