Columbus, Georgia- Genie Rae King, 79, of Columbus GA, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice. Funeral Service is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Edgewood Hall of Striffer-Hamby with Reverend Jim Hilderbrand officiating. A private interment will be at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00-6:00 P.M. in the Wildwood Room of Striffer-Hamby.
Mrs. King, daughter of the late Charlie Frank Renfroe and late Mollie Renfroe, was born October 4, 1936 in Pike County, AL. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Mrs. King enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning. Mrs. King liked fishing, and loved talking about too. She enjoyed going to the races at East Alabama Motor Speedway and was a big Elvis fan.
Other than her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy King and Harold Bryant; nieces Anita D. Best and Lisa L. Gatlin; and her grandson, Anthony Todd Strickland. Survivors include her two sons, Ricky L. Strickland of Columbus, GA and Mitchell R. Strickland (Cheryl) of Midland, GA; grandchildren Benjamin Reed Strickland, Mandy E. Rodgers and Brian M.
