Bob was born in Painesville, Ohio, a fifth generation Shepard born there. He graduated from Harvey High School in 1962, spent one year at Kent State University. He married and divorced Karen Hopkins, enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and spent a year in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 as a HM2 Corpsman, 1st Med Bat 1st Marine Division, FMF.

Bob was a successful business man in San Diego and married Deborah C. Kyle. They were married for 17 years and had a daughter, Nicole.

Bob traveled extensively throughout the country after his divorce from Deborah. He suffered from a heart condition and in 2003 he met his 3rd wife, Nancy and they were married in 2009 in San Diego, CA with his daughter as a witness. At that time he and Nancy were living in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

He was a champion of all veterans and had started a PTSD website to put veterans in contact with those that could help them. He was also very active on the internet during the 2010 Arizona elections, hosting a small home-based radio station.

He passed away as a result of complications from a medical procedure. His wife and sister-in-law were at his bedside when he passed away.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Stapleton, of Anacortes, WA., a daughter, Nicole Shepard of San Diego, a sister Sandra Jackson of Paineseville, OH and numerous nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert E. Shepard, Sr. and mother Sarah Mae (Barnhouse) Shepard, both of Painesville, OH. along with many aunts and uncles.
