Washington Irving-8 "W." was the 3rd child of Isaac-7 Crippen and his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Anne Bush.

3 CRIPPEN siblings: Unnamed infant; George; [Self]; and Myrtle, who never married.

On April 29, 1914, he married Emma Ada Slider, daughter of John Quincy Adams Slider and his wife Augusta Johanna Steltzer.

1 CRIPPEN child: Kathryn Elizabeth (Crippen) Warner.

"There was a tradition in W. Irving's family that he and other Crippens were descendants of Myles Standish. In a photo dated 1930, we see W. Irving, his wife Emma, his ?brother George, and his wife Edith standing beside the Myles Standish Memorial in Duxbury, MA. Little did W. Irving, et. al., know that 42 years later, in 1972, the family tradition would be proven by Russell Lewis Warner and his wife Kathryn Crippen: this Crippen line was definitely descended from Captain Myles Standish of Mayflower fame!

"On another trip east for a Crippen family reunion in Youngstown, Warren, PA,, we see photos taken on York Hill, land which was owned by Adolphus Crippen and where John Crippen made a clearing and built his home in 1820; a view of Crippen Hill, Warren Co., PA; a photo of W. Irving, his wife Emma, Frank Adolphus, Mary (Russell) Crippen; (perhaps) Adolphus Crippen with his wife; and W. Irving's daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Crippen."
