ANDOVER | Beverly J. (Arthur) Manning, 75, of Andover, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence.

Born in Gillespie, Ill. on Aug. 19, 1931, Beverly moved to Andover as child with her parents, the late Donald and Agnes (Campbell) Arthur.

Beverly, fondly known as "Miss Bev", started her popular home-based dancing school shortly after graduating from Punchard High. Miss Bev enthusiastically provided dancing instruction to several generations, often at little or no charge to families that otherwise could not afford
it. Her life long passion, Miss Bev continued to teach dance until shortly before her death. Beverly's other career as a waitress included many years at the Den in North Andover until its closing, and continued at Denny's in Lawrence. Beverly enjoyed treating her customers as friends and was a favorite waitress often requested by patrons. Of all of her accomplishments, Miss Bev was most proud of her involvement as mentor and advisor to people struggling with substance abuse. Having remained sober for 39 years, she devoted countless hours in helping others
with their own struggle. Over the years, many people overcame these difficulties thanks to her guidance and encouragement.

Beverly took great pride in her family. Her four children, Jack, Donna, Joe and Bevi always had her support in everything they did. She was quick to remind her three grandsons that she deeply loved them "from the tip of
their toes to the top of their head." Beverly was a lifelong member of Free Christian Church in Andover. She also belonged to the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston for many years. Beverly is survived by son, John Jr. and his companion Julie, her daughter, Donna and her husband Chris Phaneuf, son, Joseph and daughter, Beverly Jr.; grandsons, Jeffrey, Christopher and Drew Phaneuf. She is also survived by aunts, cousins and numerous close friends. She will be sadly missed by all.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at theDewhirst & Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover.
