Mrs Rosalie Nelson Ticknor
Comes as a source of regret to the host of friends is the announcement of the death of Mrs Rosalie Nelson Ticknor, occurring yesterday morning at the home of her son Dr. Douglas Ticknor of this city.
Quietly passed this revered lady to a sure reward, at the age of 87 years without pain or disease, The representative of a glorious race of women who are fast becoming extent and for women whom the south would be famous if for nothing else.
Born in Clark County, Virginia October 15 1828 her father was Major Thomas M Nelson, distinguished soldier and statesman, her mother Sally Page of the Manor of "Pagebrook" near Winchester, Virginia Thus she inherited the best strains of the Old Dominion blue blood.
At the age of nine she came to Georgia with her parents, making the journey in private conveyance, as steam cars were then unknown. The family lived at what is now the Carter home in Wynnton, suited and used by the planters of ante bellum days.
On January 18, 1847, she married to Dr Francis Orray Ticknor, Columbus' beloved and famous poet.
Mrs Ticknor is survived by the following sons. D D C Ticknor, Columbus. Messrs. F M Ticknor, F O Ticknor, and Wm Ticknor of Albany. The late G W Ticknor was also a son, and his wife and son reside in Auburn, Alabama.

Interment will be made in Linwood Cemetery and the following will act as pallbearers: B M Welborn, L G Rowen, J F Pou, L H Chappell, J F Hansard, C A Lovelace.
