William James.
William James, formerly of Honesdale, a brother of J. P. James, of this place, died at Westboro, Wis., Feb. 28th, aged 52 years. Deceased was a member of Company H., 52d Regiment of Pennsylvania, of which ex-Governor Hoyt was colonel. He was mustered in the service, Nov. 21st, 1861, and mustered out at the expiration of the term for which he enlisted, Nov. 5, 1864. He was in all the engagements of his regiment until he was made a prisoner at the battle of Fair Oaks, Virginia, and was five months in a rebel prison at Salisbury. After his return home he engaged in the lumbering business in Susquehanna county and about eight years ago removed to Wisconsin. He leaves a wife and three sons.
