Melissa Brooks Spurlock

Casper - Services for Wyoming pioneer, Melissa Brooks Spurlock, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Chapel.

Rev. Jon Crawford of St. Mark's Episcopal church will officiate with burial in the family plot at Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Spurlock died Feb. 7 at memorial Hospital of Natrona County following a short illness.

Born March 4, 1895, on the old V-V Ranch southeast of Casper, she was the youngest daughter of early Wyoming settlers, Gov. Bryant and Mary Brooks.

On Dec. 10, 1919, she married Roy Spurlock at Casper. She lived in Ogden, Utah for a short period and then returned to Casper and lived in the Goose Egg area until her death.

She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was a charter member of the Wyoming Cowbelles and the Sweetwater Home Extension Club.

Survivors are two sons, Richard R. Spurlock of Casper and James L. Spurlock of Montgomery, Ill.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1966.

Flowers or memorials to the Blue Envelope Heart Fund would be equally appreciated by the family.
