Leonard COLEMAN, born 14 April 1754, in Morris County, New Jersey, son of Jacob and Mary (KARIS) KOOLMAN, moved from Morris County, New Jersey together with the LAWRENCES and BELLS, and settled first in Washington County, Pennsylvania before purchasing 96 acres of land in Belmont County, Ohio from David LOCKWOOD, 6 June 1796. See Chambers' THE EARLY GERMANS OF NEW JERSEY; BELMONT COUNTY HISTORY (1988), p.111.

He married to Eunice Pierson.

Born on April 14, 1754 in Morris Co., New Jersey, son of Jacob and Mary Koolman Coleman. Leonard served as an Orderly Sergeant on the New Jersey Line, his widow was pensioned after application of December 3, 1844 W9810.

He married Eunice Pierson (1762- _); children: William, John, Jacob, Elizabeth, Leonard, Mary, Charlotte, Sarah and Wyllis. They lived in Washington County, Pennsylvania after the War for about 17 years, then moved to Mead Township, Belmont Co, OH and was one of the
early settlers there.

He Died on March 28, 1839 and Buried at Coleman Cemetery at Dillies Bottom or Jacobsburg, both in Belmont Co., OH Ref: Mrs. Frank Bernhardt. Furinfor Mrs. A. L. McFarland, St. Clairsville, of Wheeling D.A.R. & Virgil White, Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension File, Vol., p. 710.
