Ca./ IT would be in vain/ On this Stone to attempt/ To record the moral and/ Intellectual endowments/ Of the deceased,/ As a General Scholar/ And Physician/ He had but few superiors;/ While as a Citizen, Husband,/ Parent, Friend and Christian,/ He was equally distinguished./ His good qualities are however/ Recorded in a more available/ And permanent form/ In "the Lambs Book of Life."/ And will be remembered/ On that great day/ When this Mortal shall/ Put on Immortality/ And death shall be/ Swallowed up/ In Victory./ ---

(Facing West:) I would not live alway, I ask not to/ stay,/ Where storm after storm rises dark/ o'er the way;/ The few lurid mornings that dawn/ on us here;/ Are enough of life's woes, full enough/ for its cheer./ I would not live alway; no-welcome/ the tomb,/ Since Jesus hath lain there, I dread/ not its gloom;/ There, sweet be my rest, till he bid/ me arise,/ To hail Him in triumph descending/ the skies./ ---
(Facing North:) THE Deceased died/ In full communion/ With the Episcopal/ Church of this place,/ And has left a bright/ And Shining example/ To its Members./ Of every Charity,/ Virtue and grace/ That adorns/ The Christian's life./ ---
